2. Sep 25, 2006. #1. Hi all, Our punto has recently gone in for an MOT and the tester told me that the radiator fan cuts in too late and will allow the radiator to boil over. I was advised to change the fan switch as soon as possible. Yesterday I bought one from my local motor factors but I am unable to find where on earth it goes! Hi, I have a Fiat Punto 1.2 8v (2004) which sometimes has a really bad, rough idle. Other than that the car runs fine, there`s no check engine light no excessive fuel consumption, starts quick, drives smooth. The only problem is when the car is in idle and it`s RPM starts fluctuating noticably. Specially if I put some electric load on the car.
Earlier in the day, I had driven up and down a few 11% gradient hills. I filled up with fuel but had been running around a few days with very little petrol. At first I thought it was just a blockage with the filter but reading the Haynes manual, I found there isn't one. Last night, I noticed there was arcing around the spark plugs.
New to this site and new to Fiat ownership. Just purchased my Punto and I noticed it was running a little rough on idle and lacked on power (not that it has much of it anyway:p). So I've changed the plugs, leads and air filter which brought back the power part but it still idles a little rough Wonder if any 1 knows why im only doing 27miles to the gallon, what can i do save putting petrol in my tank on the time. I seem to top up and to about half a tank and i down to a quarter of a tank in about a day. Have you got any suggestions in what i can do in to getting more miles to the other half was complaining of fuel use and last night the strong smell of fuel around the car had a look under it today and run the engine, and fuel is leaking out of the fuel filter which is well rotten with rust have costed one up at £4.50+vat It looks like it has those daft fiat push fit DSVW1A.
