This should but LU at about 310,000 miles. I have now purchased a replacement for LU. MACT Ford Edge will now be going ecoboost. The new Edge is a 2019 Ford Edge Titanium AWD with the 2.0 ecoboost and the 8F35 transmission. The new Edge will be name LILU. (reference to the 5th element movie)
It has its quirks, but with good guidance with a mechanic, you can manage them. The information out there says to expect 300,000 miles out of her. Ford's 3.5 Duratec is one of their more
Well, the OP light goes out even before the engine fully fires - it's insane how quick it goes out. Even with the vehicle idling for 30 mins or more after running for a while, I've never even gotten a flicker out of the oil light, and the level is good. I'm positive OP isn't the problem, so I'm not going to stick 20W-50 in it.
The non turbo 3.5 v6 is rated at 283 hp. My 2016 F150 reg cab short bed 4x4 has good mid range and top end power. I wouldn’t try to tow too much though. Mileage isn’t great. I have never gotten more than 26 mpg highway and around town get around 15. Knowing that , it is a good basic no frills engine.
The 3.5L engine actually offers the highest towing capacity available on the F-150. That holds true for payload capacity, too. However, chances are the 2.7L engine still offers plenty of towing capacity for most F-150 owners. If you are planning on towing heavy loads often the 3.5 EcoBoost is the better choice.
In "honor" of the Duratec name, all of Ford's European gasoline engines are now under the Duratec name. Even the older "Zetec" engines and really old OHV "Endura" engines have been renamed as Duratec engines. In North America, only the 4-cyl and 6-cyl DOHC engines use the Duratec name. The modern 4-cylinder Duratecs are also good DOHC engines
If you have a high mileage engine there isn't going to be any real harm in adding a seal softening agent to the engine's oil. After years of heat cycling and age those seals have a tendency to harden. On the Duratec, this means the shaft type seals and the pre-shaped O-ring type seals such as used on the timing covers and valve covers.
Feb 5, 2018. #1. I ran across some information on my Mazda’s (Ford) Duratec 3.7 V6. Looks like the Water Pump is internal to the engine and driven by the timing chain. Any failure by gasket or pump can trash the engine quickly by spilling coolant into the oil. I read somewhere the 2012’s have a beefed-up impeller making the failures less
They are good engines. They have timing chains, which last the life of the engine. The 2.3 introduced around 2003 (Duratec) is totally different from the other 4 cylinder engines found in rangers. They should last just as long as any other moder 4 cylinder aluminum engineI would expect 200k or so.
