Turning off MIUI optimization solved this issue for me. The option is hidden by default and shows up by tapping "Reset to the default value" in developer option's bottom area many times. Thanks. I had to tap "Reset to the default value" several times to have the MIUI optimization appears. Adjusting the size of the split doesn't work well though.
